Welcome to Frostfyre Icelandics Home of Incredible Icelandic Sheepdogs: Ilse, Soley & Roskur

PUPPIES!!

The Precious Rogues are now 7 weeks old and are looking more like little adults.  With their ears perking up, they are starting to think about and work on their possible future careers.  All Icelandic Sheepdogs look for a job to do.   These little ones have found there is a lot of work needed just in the front yard!

Well, Falki is still contemplating what to do with his ears!

While Haukur has his ears almost completely up already!

Hrokur just about has his there!

Ari has really been working hard at getting his ears standing almost straight up!
Hrafn has got just a little bit of a lift going on with his!

Before one can get started with the landscaping, it is important to determine who is boss by playing a little game of "King of the Hill".

There is certainly a lot of pruning and trimming that needs to be done.

Then you discover there is an archeological dig necessary to uncover some ancient history.

Before the day is over, you have to always remember to walk the dog!

At nearly 6 weeks old, the Precious Rogues are starting to live up to their names and are busy looking for whatever they can find to get into.  They are able to keep up with us on little walks now, but tend to be more easily distracted by interesting stuff they find along the way.  They are having great fun exploring the big world outside!

Here's Falki doing his Pointer impression and enjoying a stick he came across.

Haukur shows how he can stare down his opponent and grab a hold of his tail....oops that's not his tail!

Hrokur takes a moment to smile for the camera and later chills out after a busy day.

Ari only slows down when he's sidling up to Mom....most of the time, he's ready to play.

Hrafn takes a moment to contemplate his next move....

He's gonna finally give us a big smile!

We went in for our 4 weeks check-up last week along with our mom, Soley.  We are happy to report that our vet says we are all gaining weight and doing great and so is Mom.  Our wobbly little legs are getting much stronger and we are able to follow Mom and our human parents around the yard a lttle better now.  We celebrated Mother's Day today by ganging up on Mom.  She loved it and played patiently with us as we gave her the only present we had....lots of puppy kisses!  Then we went exploring in the back yard...what fun!!!

Here's Falki heading for new adventures.
Haukur has spotted something interesting.
Hrokur is high steppin' it in the sun.
Ari was caught exploring in the woods...look Ma, my nose is almost all black now!
Hrafn wanted to smile for the camera, but kept getting distracted by all the fun stuff to see.

These five little boys are fast becoming Frostfyre's precious rogues.  Mesti Thorpari means precious rogue in Icelandic.

This is Falki (the Falcon) - the first born

This is Haukur (the Hawk) - the second born

This is Hrokur (the Rook) - the third born

This is Ari (the Eagle) - the fourth born

This is Hrafn (the Raven) - the fifth born
All five puppies are up and walking on wobbly little legs.  With their eyes open, they are more aware of the world around them and are beginning to play with each other, with their Mom and with their toys.  They are also starting to come to us when we call them and are developing their own little personalities.  Each of these cute little boys is available for adoption to approved homes.  If you are interested in one of Soley's boys, please e-mail me (Soley's Mom) at frostfyre@msn.com or call my cell:  434-665-5501

The puppies just went in for their two week check up on April 19th.  All of the boys are doing great and gaining weight daily.  Soley is a very patient Mom and spends many hours alone in the nursery caring for the babies.  Fortunately, the nursery is also our office and I can sit with them and keep her company while working on the computer.  Below are pictures of Soley resting while the boys are happily enjoying yet another meal and a ring of well-fed, contented puppies.

Soley's expecting puppies and her time is getting close!  When we did the sonogram a few weeks ago, we counted 4, maybe 5 puppies.  She is due around April 9th and is getting bigger by the day. Soley was bred to Vinland's Tenzing, a beautiful black tri-color male pictured below.  We are very excited and can't wait to meet the new babies.
